This is very sad news.
However, this incident may be the very impetus to finally get legislation passed
to ban such archaic, cruel traps that have no place in this day and age.
Please take a few minutes to contact your representatives and urge their
support of this bill - so no more owls or other animals have to suffer needlessly.

Can anyone provide links to the articles?

Many of you may have read in today's newspapers, or heard on television that the female Great-horned Owl which was found in the leg trap had to be
euthanized.  I agree that we should support the bill to outlaw leg traps in CT.  My son found a cat caught in one when we lived in North Salem, NY and
the cat had begun to chew its leg off.  We had a vet living next door and he took the cat to his hospital in Brewster, NY and amputated the leg.  She
did live for a few more months, hobbling on three legs, but she died of feline leukemia which the doctor said was no doubt brought on by the trauma.
