TWL: RE: CA to FL on board Spirit of Zopilote Day 9 (Fri. 3rd)

I'm really enjoying these posts. It reminds me of the trip we did a year
ago. I wish I had kept a written log to share.

He is getting close to the point where we joined in Acapulco. I look
forward to his trip across the Tehuantepec Gulf in order to compare my
recollections. Actually we had it easy. The crossing did not live up to the
notorious "Tehuantepecker" reputation.

The excitement of reaching a waypoint after 26 hours at 115 degrees and
changing course by only 8 degrees. How true.

The night watches were intriguing. Blips on the radar that never came to
fruition. Things that passed by that never showed up on radar. Muffled
flashes of light from a silent ponga a half mile towards shore. Crossing
the Mexico and Guatemala border in the middle of the night. Both countries
with beacons so strong that they lit up the cabin 5 miles off shore.
