Hello Passagemakers

After crossing the Pacific my observations are as follows.

We only saw one other trawler which was a steel custom built boat from
Europe  (apart from Nordhavn's) after we left Panama heading to Galapagos
and French Polynesia during 2009.  That 3000 nm leg seems to sort them out.

I have recently steamed from Brisbane around the top end of Australia to
Perth, Western Australia (some 3500 nm).  In the King George River
(Kimberley region which is very remote)  there were three Nordhavn's all of
which were being used as intended - crossing oceans.  It was not until I got
to Perth that I saw a single hander in a converted fishing boat that was 70%
through a circumnavigation of Australia.  The other boat doing the rounds
was a 60' Fleming calling at all ports.  Not the same as ocean Passagemaking
I know but still a good effort as there are some very challenging navigation
issues on that coastline.

As a Nordhavn owner I could be considered biased but this is not the case.
'Venture' my 43' Nordhavn although beautifully built and finished can be a
'pig' in some conditions so I am open to all other opinions regarding the
best overall passagemaker.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Xmas.

Cheers

George
