See below for great news from across the border. Getting an atlas out, especially so soon after data collection is completed is a major feat. Kudos to Joan and all those involved with the Massachusetts atlas project (at least a few of which are from CT).

Hello Atlas Folk,

It has been a busy few weeks here at Mass Audubon.
·        We released out Atlas summary document, State of the Birds 2013 - Massachusetts Breeding Birds: A Closer Look in both print, website, and as a .pdf (at www.massaudubon.org/sotb). Email me if you would like a print copy. The State of the Birds data library is pretty cool – linked through the Find a Bird tool on the website.
·        We released our BBA2 website at www.massaudubon.org/bba2. All the content that is in the eBook is available on the website for free.
·        And today iTunes launched our BBA2 as an eBook, which I think is the first Atlas eBook.  It is easy to find on iTunes, but here is a link https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/massachusetts-breeding-bird/id766503987?mt=11 The eBook is $24.99 USD
·        We are almost done prepping the print-on-demand “real” book option. That will be available through our website in a week or so – likely in the $100 USD range (gulp)

I am including a blurb from Scott Weidensaul, who graciously reviewed the book for us. It was a lot of fun, and I think it came out quite “readable”, which was our intent.

·        Massachusetts Breeding Bird Atlas 2 is now available on iTunes!

·        Mass Audubon has just released the Breeding Bird Atlas 2, a must-have for everyone who loves the nature of Massachusetts. As Scott Weidensaul said of the book, “It's hard to overstate what a treasure-trove the Massachusetts Breeding Bird Atlas 2 represents. From its fascinating history on each species of breeding bird, to the often dramatic changes in distribution since the 1970s, this work sets a new standard for such atlases. It's a rich, informative and incredibly interesting resource for anyone … made all the better by John Sill's gorgeous illustrations.”

Thanks to all of you for your generous help along the way, and for blazing the trail.

Cheers!

Joan
