Hi everybody,

Just a note to say thanks to all the responders and that I have decided to get
the Fein tool and 3mm scraper bit. I found it on Amazon at a somewhat
reasonable price.I have some other boat interior projects (countertop, sink,
cooktop, carpeting......) currently underway so I won't be starting the deck
seam project until warmer weather arrives. I'll keep the list updated on my
progress and have more questions when progress slows to a crawl.

Thanks for the help,
Marc and Andree

Fein's patent protection on that tool has expired, so there are
several less expensive copies, such as the Dremel Multi-Max.  Dremel
has an adaptor to allow other make's blades to fit their tool.

I wondered why all of a sudden there were several on the market. I happened
to read a review of all of them in "This Old House" magazine (I think) the
other day. The Fein still came out way on top. Whichever one was cordless
was the worst, the others in the middle. I can say I love my Fein
Multimaster, and highly recommend it. If you were only going to do a job
once, you could get by with the cheaper ones, but for a good lifetime tool,
get the Fein.

Years ago when cheap tools were first flooding the market and Craftsman
tools were the best, my neighbor who taught me how to rebuild engines told
me I could buy a cheap tool and break it and then go buy a Craftsman tool or
buy the Craftsman tool upfront and not have to worry about.

I think this applies to the Fein.  I've loaned my Fein to a friend after his
cheaper version would not do the job.
