Note: Besides the reports below, many common birds are also arriving.

05/03/14 - Milford, Mondo Pond -- Yellow-throated Warbler at 4:07 PM,
back in spruce on rocky promontory just to left of Naugatuck Ave
parking lot.

From Ken Elkins leading NVA walk:
05/03/14 - Southbury, Bent of the River Audubon Sanctuary -- 12
species of warblers, including 1 Hooded Warbler.  Also 2 Winter Wren.

From Cynthia Ehlinger with Stephan & Shaun Martin, Joe Bear, Mike
Warner, et al:
05/03/14 - Greenwich, Audubon Center -- 2 ORCHARD ORIOLE, male &
female; Solitary Sandpiper.

From Frank Gallo:
05/03/14 - Milford, Milford Point --  2-3 White-rumped Sandpipers at
the Coastal Center feeding in the marsh.  The pair of Blue-winged Teal
continue in the marsh.

05/03/14 - Hamden/New Haven, East Rock Park -- male Orchard Oriole
passing nesting material to his mate.

05/03/14 - New Haven, Lighthouse Point Park -- 9:30  to 11:15 AM; 1
Brown Thrasher.

05/03/14 - Stamford, Cove Island Sanctuary -- Orchard Oriole.

05/03/14 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach State Park -- LITTLE BLUE HERON,
BOAT-TAILED GRACKLE.

05/03/14 - Madison, Hammonasset Beach State Park -- Seaside Sparrow
(Willards Island), White-crowned Sparrow (Cedar Island).
New Haven, East Rock Park, upper level -- Yellow-billed Cuckoo first
spotted by Dan Rottino. My earliest since May 5, 1962!

05/03/14 - Woodbridge, Konold's Pond -- Little Blue Heron on the
industrial side of the pond.

05/03/14 - Westbrook, kayaking around Menunketesuck Island at
the mouth of the river at high tide, in mid-afternoon -- 18 PURPLE
SANDPIPER.

From Dan Rottino and family:
05/03/14 - Lyme -- t 8:10 pm we heard two Whip-poor-wills in the
forest.  While we stood outside on this beautiful evening we enjoyed a
number of American Woodcocks doing flight displays (and a bat).

05/03/14 - Hamden, West Rock Ridge State Park, Lake Wintergreen area
-- SOLITARY SANDPIPER.

05/02/14 - Plymouth, Hancock Brook Lake Dam -- WHIP-POOR-WILL, across
the street and down the hill from the dam, in the old road blocked by
Jersey barriers, calling at about 8:30 PM.

05/02/14 - Stratford, Long Beach -- Short-eared Owl.

05/02/14 - Fairfield, yard -- White-crowned Sparrow under the feeders
picking up the droppings.
