Hi Michael!
This is exactly why I reached out to you guys! I know that experienced teachers like yourself have seen many language lab technologies come and go. We need something that is compatible with today's modern technology (IPads, Android devices, laptops, etc), but that comes with equipment that can be used by the students to record and by the teacher to "drop in" and listen to what they are saying at any time.

I have used many different labs in my 20 years of teaching and I would recommend something that could be used with your laptops or I pads. Some of the sophisticated permanent labs have problems.

Hello all! I'm in a desperate need for help. At our school we had given up hope of getting a mobile language lab, but fortunately we got news (on Monday) that we could get one if we get bids from companies before April 30th... so now the determining factor is time. We do not have the time to have all kinds of different vendors come and give us a quo, so instead I would like to hear suggestions and recommendations from those of you with experience on mobile language labs. Could you please share the name of the companies and what you like about them?
I greatly appreciate everyone's time and help!
Thank you!

Have you tried DUOLINGO? If the majority of your kids have cell phones, they can download the app and work on it in class. If some don't have computers, go to the computer lab and while the students with cell phones log, the students without them can work on the computers. If you have laptops you can bring to your classroom, that is a lot better.
I use duolingo with my students and for myself to keep up with my french. I feel it works because it is a constant challenge.

I love this app. I am using it for Italian. I have recommended it to my students. If your text has a lab component as mine does, I don't know that you would want to use it exclusively but it is a great addition. As stated, it is great on a smart phone or a tablet as long as there is a microphone in the tablet

Is anyone aware of a TPR (or the like) workshop available in the summer in
the Houston area?
Other suggestions appreciated for summer Prof. development!

I know that Blain Ray has workshops throughout the year. I just check his website and it has one listed for June 23-25 in Houston. I've attached his summer workshop flier. You can also visit his website: http://www.blaineraytprs.com/
Also, there are two major conferences this summer for those interested in TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Ready and Storytelling). One is in Denver (iFLS TPRS Conference: website http://tprstorytelling.com/conference/) and the other is in Chicago (National TPRS Conference: website http://ntprs.org/)
Sincerely,
Michael Wagner
