My morning rounds today included the usual mallard, green-wing teal,
american wigeon, canada geese, and killdeer at the Farm Pond on Ninth
District and Hutton Rd but also added barn and tree swallows, double crested
cormorant, and 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER.
I then picked up another 20 species during a nice paddle on the Scantic
River at the Mill Pond with the highlights being a mature Bald Eagle souring
over the Pond (a first for me in Somers) and rough winged swallows, palm
warbler, double crested cormorant (perhaps the same one from the Farm Pond)
a blue bird and lots of painted turtles enjoying the warm day.
At home I picked up my first Chipping Sparrows of the season under the
feeders.
