Anybody ever use a sweep as a bow thruster? That's my plan. I figure it
will make an excellent rudder for going astern too. And fuddamore, it could
be quickly shifted aft if a stern thruster were needed. It could provide get
home power as a yuloh. I could repel boarders with it.......

Wazza "sweep". I've been thinking of an electric trolling motor. Is
that similar to your sweep?

I've seen literature on a water jet bow thruster. Does anyone have any
thoughts on this kind of propulsion? It seems like it would make for a much
simpler installation.

It could be a bit difficult to operate while at the same time turning the
wheel, operating the throttle, gears etc.
One of the things that has always bothered me about having a bow thruster
is that in a tight situation I'd need four arms to twirl the wheel, operate
throttle and gears and operate the thruster controls. If the situation
isn't tight, why would I need a thruster in the first place?
