Spring must be coming! After a long hiatus of not much I am suddenly
getting luckier!
Canvassing the area south of our airport once again, but on a limited time,
I saw 2 of the Short-eared Owls. NO Snowy this time, but 2 Wild Turkeys and
a coyote instead, all on Earl Armstrong Rd. Around on Leitrim Rd there was
a Great Horned Owl sitting in a tree by the road, searching the ground. It
flew of behind some bushes after something.
For directions, see our website and follow the links to great directions in
the birding section.
Cheers, Eve

Hi all,
At 9:30 am and again at 3 pm today, a pure white Snowy Owl was seen atop a
hydro pole on Cty Rd 9 south of Plantagenet. To get there from Hwy 17 turn
south onto Cty Rd 9 at the Champlain Motel in Plantagenet. Be careful Cty
Rd 9 veers sharply left past the second bridge in Plantagenet. Follow the
sign for St-Isidore. The owl was observed about 8 km from Hwy 17 just past
the Concession 10 intersection.
To find the Carolina Wren continue south for about 10 minutes on Cty Rd 9
until you reach the village of St-Isidore. Here Cty Rd 9 changes to
St-Catherine Street. The Carolina Wren was singing this morning in the
backyard of 127 Ste-Catherine Street. It could be seen and heard from the
road.

Hi all,
A total of 155 Bohemian Waxwings were observed perched together in seven
poplars this afternoon. To reach the site take exit 51 from Hwy 417. Go
south to Maxville on Cty Rd 20. Continue through Maxville for about 2.5 km
then turn left (east) on Concession 5 and go another 3.5 km. The waxwings
were in the trees located on the east side of the road.
