Fw: Fuel Tank Woes

Everything so far sounds right to me. You have taken on water somewhere.
Perhaps the fuel fill O-ring on the deck are missing? The problem with
slow fuel
filling and odd levels, I have had on a boat before. It seams that, on one
of
my previous boats, the tanks were made with no openings for air and fuel
to
move between the baffles in the tops of the tanks. This caused a large air
pocket
in the rear of the tank even though the front was full. The tank had to be
removed and re made. BIG problem for me. I hope it is not the same for
you, but
keep it in mind. By taping the sides of the tanks you can "sound" if this
is
your case. Mine was gas and gave no easy cure. But Diesel might allow you
to
put in an air manifold on the top of the tank connecting blocked sections.
Let
me know how you make out, Smooth Sailing. Jc

This post gives me two ideas. (1) Since your tanks are new, the manufacturer
should be able to give you the internal structure which might include
baffles. (1) Seabuilt makes a retro-fittable access hatch that would allow
you to examine the interior of the tank. Here:
