TWL: Watermakers

I would like to get recommendations from the list for watermakers.  I am in the
pre-purchase process for a long range displacement vessel with approximately 300
gallons fresh water tankage.  The primary mission of the vessel will be to
support 3-5 persons during extended cruising, primarily at northern latitudes --
Seattle to Alaska.

What factors should I consider?  What capacity is appropriate?  AC or DC?  The
vessel will have ample DC battery reserves but also a 10KW generator.

Any any all constructive suggestions are welcome.

Forget the Watermakers----just work and problems.

Here in Florida and the Bahamas we use a lot more water than you will up
north. We go away with 300 gal for a 60 day trip to the Islands, shower
twice a day, after swimming and before bed and we don't come close to
running out. Think how you can catch water if you go for longer periods of
time or put into a marina once in a while and fill up.

If you like tinkering get a watermaker otherwise put in another tank in
that spot.
