I don't know either but getting back to the club issue I can report that I
belonged to a YCA club for several years while cruising the East Coast,
including the Potomac and Chesapeake. Most legitimate yacht clubs will let
YCA membes stay on a cash, check or credit card basis. I have stayed at many
clubs and never once did I get offered a free night or a discount. But, I
always felt welcome.
The great big exception to the above is the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs.
FCYC clubs offer reciprocity to other FCYC clubs and with a very few
exceptions some select non FCYC clubs. Full reciprocity means offering a free
first night, subsequent night discounts, plus sending all your charges back
to your home club for collection. If you call a FCYC club and offer a YCA
membership the majority will tell you that they are sorry but no. In these ec
onomic times I am sure that a few will bend the rules. For example, my club
will let YCA members stay on a cash basis for a few days with nothing free
or discounted. Royal Palm in Ft. Myers will allow a yearly visit for YCA
members with no benefits. Several of the clubs on the East Coast of Florida,
Halifax River, for example will barely speak to you. The clubs vary in
their policies but most hold pretty tight to FCYC standards.
I moved to SW Florida a couple of years ago and joined a FCYC club which
also pays dues to YCA.

I agree with RC,
As a member of a yacht club on the Chesapeake Bay which is also a
member of the CBYCA (Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club's Association) we have
not been turned away from any other yacht club on the Bay nor while
on the Great Loop but were always made welcome - a few even gave us a
discount even though their members were not likely to be able to
visit our yacht club. Our yacht club has members from several
marinas (5) so there is no club house or dockage to offer reciprocal
privileges for transient use. That said, we do go out of our way to
assist other clubs who make our main marina(s) one of their Summer
destination spots. And, as AGLCA Harbor Hosts, we do likewise for
all Loopers who come to visit.
