Hello,
I bought the unit in the subject from a bankrupt company and I want to
share some things about this one and ask for some help if anyone has
access to ADVA/Oscilloquartz Support page.
This unit is a compact 1U rack mountable type and it is completely
silent, I didn't hear any fan noise. On the back it has some radiator
which is barely warm.
First issue I had was the RS232 serial port (RJ45) which was not using
the "standard" pinout I was used to so I had to build my own cable.
I attached the pinout to this email in case someone needs it.
I went through the initial configuration and everything seems OK.
In terms of hardware it has the following:
It is running some embedded Linux and my software version is 10.5.2
Issues that I found with Oscilloquartz are the following:
I found one seller on eBay that sold 29 pieces of the same model and he
said in the ad he has the following manuals and software but I cannot
contact him since the auction ended and I am not sure if he is willing
to help since I didn't buy this unit from him. If anyone on the list
bought this unit from him and ot the manuals and firmware I would like
also to have them please.

Thanks!

Hi Razvan,
I have the OSA 5530 that is very similar. I have found the documents for that unit and I don’t think the software is very different. I put it on a file sharing system tonight.

Hello Herman,
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
About your unit, you mean OSA 5430? I cannot find any Oscilloquartz OSA
5530 except for an OSA 5530B which is a totally different device.
Best regards,
Razvan

Yes it is a OSA 5430 Razvan, I have sent you a dropbox link.
They have 3 10 MHz Oscillators versions HQ + = OCXO the HQ ++ Double oven OCXO and the Rubidium version. I have the HQ ++.
Wordt of warning, never update the firmware if you get it somewhere. If there are parameters in the firmware suboptimal for your unit you get serious frequency errors.
Succes

Hello Herman,
I got the files, thanks a lot! The 5420 comes with the HQ+ oscillator.
The commands are matching from what I see. I will start studying them.
Regarding the firmware, I usually check the release notes to see what
bug fixes are inside or new features. If noting fancy inside the release
notes I usually keep the older working firmware. In case I have more
than one unit I usually sacrifice one to test new firmware.
In this case I only have one piece but I saw you can revert between the
new and older firmware. Looks like they partitioned the NAND flash in 2
zones. I found no option to save the old/actual firmware as a backup. Do
you know if there is any possibility to backup the NAND flash?
Thanks,
Razvan
