Hello Tom, your fridge operating on 120v but not on 12v sounds like the problem I had recently. I replaced the one circuit board on top of the unit. I think this diagnosis came from norcold tech support. A little pricey at $300 from an RV store but is easy to self install and it sure is nice. Wish you good fridge repair. If you find it is the board (not unlikely, given the symptom), I would recommend a Dinosaur board over one from Ne'erCold if Dino makes one for your model.
