I had the same interest in reducing the amount of teak to care for on my
MT44.
After reading many suggestions posted on TL, I decided to prime the teak with
two coats of CPES and then it was painted with Brightsides, which is a one
part urethane.
The result was exactly as Maurin stated. For two years, the paint held up
fine. By the third year, it was lifting.
I recently gave up on the idea of painting for the FB teak brow, and had it
all stripped down. It was then painted with Signature Honey Teak, and then
three coats of their clear urethane. Signature is a local brand formulated in
Stuart, FL, but the maker guarantees that it will not peel off for up to ten
years.
Guess I'll have to wait a while and see! Martin Veiner

Tom Fabula's company makes Signature Finish paints AND Honey Teak. The
prominence of the words Signature Finish on his website makes it a little
confusing, Honey Teak is Honey Teak and everybody is talking about the same
thing. Star Distributors, the marketer of CPES, sells Honey Teak and
recommends using CPES under Honey Teak. I own all these companies.
