Broadway Center Offers Special Ticket for

Juan de Marcos and The Afro-Cuban All Stars Concert to

Encourage Food Donation for Emergency Food Network

Tacoma, WA - Broadway Center for the Performing Arts has recently teamed up with The Emergency Food Network to encourage non-perishable food donations at a time when resources are needed most.

With every donation of non-perishable food items, the Broadway Center is now offering $15 tickets to the upcoming concert, Juan de Marcos and The Afro-Cuban All Stars on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Pantages Theater.  Food bins will be on site in the Pantages Lobby, donations may be made at the Box Office or the evening of the show.  This special offer is made possible thanks to the performance sponsor and long-time partner, Key Foundation.

Each month in Pierce County, more than 140,000 people seek emergency food assistance, and the number is steadily rising. All food collected will be donated to the Emergency Food Network, serving 60+ food banks and hot meal sites in Pierce County. Led by Juan de Marcos Gonzalez, the internationally recognized musicians Juan De Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars celebrate Cuba's musical heritage and play a mixture of Bolero, Chachacha, Salsa, Son Mutuno, Timba, Guarjia, Danzόn, Rumba and Abakua. The group claimed international recognition with their 1997 album, A Toda Cuba Le Gusta, recorded at the Buena Vista Social Club Sessions. Their new album, Step Forward, further embraces the diversity of Cuba's musical heritage. Juan De Marcos and The Afro-Cuban All Stars are an active touring band and continue to make Cuban music more accessible throughout the world.
