Welcome to the Spring Birding Festival at Pelee. Today there were a good number of migrants arriving in the Park both birds and humans. The bird life included about 17 species of warbler. These included CERULEAN, HOODED, BLUE-WINGED, and WILSON’S. They were located mostly in Tilden Woods. There are a few reports of YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT in the Park. One is located regularly at the bench on Redbud Trail. Another was at the north end of that same trail. On Tilden Trail one was seen at the Basswood trail sign. An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at the north end of the Redbud Trail. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, was located along the West Beach Parking lot. Birders report good numbers of birds between Dunes and Sanctuary Picnic areas. Outside the Park Wheatley Harbour there were a number of WILLET and RUDDY TURNSTONE. There was a PAINTED BUNTING reported on Pelee Island. Good Birding, Aaron, Dale, Felix, Pete and Quinten. The 2023 Festival of Birds runs May 1 - 19.
