Hi folks,
I need to haul the boat and get the bottom done. Has anyone used, and can
recommend a good yard in the Mobile area? I would like to do some other work
myself, so the yard needs to be cooperative in that respect. Thanks!!

Ken, I have been in the Mobile (mostly Eastern Shore and Gulf Shore-Orange
Beach AL area for a couple of months now boat hunting) and have listened to
a lot about local boat yards.  I agree with 'Seasalt007' that, in this area,
by all accounts, Dog River sets the gold standard.

I have been looking further towards the mouth of Mobile Bay because we will
be staying at Bear Point Marina (great place!)in Orange Beach, AL.  Two
boatyards recommended by locals in that area were Saunders and Nelson.
Saunders had a waiting list till mid May and Nelson was able to schedule
some time for my work now.

I'm putting my new-to-me Heritage 40 in this week for bottom job, name
change and navigation gear install at:
Nelson James H Boat Yard
16800 Nelson Ln
Gulf Shores, AL 36542
251) 968-7974

I have been by there and I've talked to the owner, his son, and some of the
yardsmen.  I am comfortable with them, will report back to List after work
is completed with results.
