I too, thought the new picture-laden search pages on Yachtworld to
be a waste. I complained by email and got a prompt and helpful response.
If you go to the bar labeled "Search Results", there are three
relatively obscure icons at the right. The first of these restores
the old one or two line per boat "list view". The middle one has
three boats with pictures across, and the right one has one boat
across (the new default).
Anyway, those who hate change, myself included, can now restore the
old view with ease, and still have the new ebay-style refine-search
controls on the left (which I think are an improvement).

has any one heard of CERAMIC Foam core ?

it's apparently used by Regal on their new 53 footer... I have never heard
of ceramic foam before... note that the word cheap comes up twice in the
above page...
just for a laugh, here is how the builder website describe the boat
construction...
"the build process actually begins with the exterior layer of the boat known
as gelcoat. sprayed into a mold, the gelcoat will harden to about 22
millimeters thick to provide color and luster. Once the gelcoat is
thoroughly inspected, we hand roll the fiberglass (called a skin coat) to
the cured surface.
following this step, we spray ceramic foam behind the skin coat to add
rigidity to both the hull and deck.
Next up is the stringer phase. During this step we add Fir spars covered in
fiberglass and then bond them to the hull to ensure the frame is as sturdy
as possibly be. Finally we grind out and sand all the rough edges from the
mold process. And then wax and buff both the hull and deck to a beuatiful
shine before sending it to the next construction phase."
i'm not making this up... they really say 22 MILLIMITERS not Mils.. the
video only shows chop guns in action, no mention of real laminate...
I think I'm going to keep my 37 year old hull for a while :-)

Ceramic = Concrete, right?
And, I think concrete is brittle, unless rebar is embedded in it?
Pascal, I think your 37 yr hull will be around when this new fad is
here and gone.
IMHO YMMV yada yada yada...
