We couldn't hope BlueChartsMobile would get us through the next 6 months,
as far as the "navigator" is concerned.. Downloaded Aqua Map and so far,
very good. Have not cruised with it yet. As Sean says it downloads AC.
Also, we have 360 waypoints we needed to port. Aqua Map allows you to
download them to their corporate site in 3 formats and then push them into
the mobile app. Wow...saved me many hours of manual input.
As a complaint, on our iPad, we have Garmin Blue Charts, SeaIQ and now,
Aqua Map. They all download the AC data base...but...they cannot share 1
file so we have to have room for the same data 3x. (A problem Jeff might
have look at...don't think that will happen now.)
Waiting for the Navionics mobile app to include AC. Launching on a few, or
less, weeks.

Long, detailed tech explanation omitted, but suffice it to say that this
could not really have been changed no matter who looks at it. The
application space in both Android and iOS does not allow disparate
applications to share files. If it did, then an unscrupulous application
could steal personal information or otherwise wreak havoc with your
device. Beyond that, the AC API provides the data online but does not
dictate to the app how or where to store it, and every app has its own
method.
In order for multiple plotter apps to share AC data, or, for that
matter, to share charts, the developers would have to cooperate to
develop a common database, build a common server app to serve that data
to the other apps, and then build those apps to utilize that server.
While that might happen within a single company, so that, for example,
Garmin's AC app and Navionics app might play together (at some expense
to performance), it's beyond the pale to expect it to happen between
competitors, especially without a significant market demand (by which I
mean desire to spend more money).
FWIW.
