Subject: [NCL Board] 5 minute request - OK to support this letter?
Our colleagues at National PTA have asked us about signing onto this
letter supporting the Family Engagement in Education Act S. 662/H.R. 1192, which
was introduced in the House and Senate last Monday. The bill is unchanged
from the 113th Congress version, which was supported by NCL member NCFL. I
have attached a copy of the bill from the 113th Congress and the sign-on
letter for your review. The relevant language regarding support for family
literacy is pasted below.
I believe this falls under our general policy principle of supporting
legislation that supports family literacy. That, plus the fact that NCFL
supports it, suggests we can support this automatically without a vote, but let
me know if you disagree. If you could do so by COB tmw, Iâd appreciate it,
as I am throughly tied up with Digital Promise business late in the week.
