Hi Mark!
We replaced our A/C unit in 2011 with a 16K BTU Marine Air and couldn't be happier. Ours is a self-contained non-modular unit, smaller than the original so it fit easier. It's quieter than the old one, has a programmable thermostat (cool/heat/humidity control) and is mounted in a non-metallic pan.
The thing that impressed most of all was MarineAir's customer service. Our unit leaked freon and failed in less than ten days. We were cruising in the Chesapeake when it went T/U. We had a Katie Finnecy from Drum Point Marine aboard servicing the gen set and she checked it out and found a bad solder joint. She contacted MarineAir while she was still aboard the boat. Rather than having her resolder it they told her they would ship a replacement immediately and that she should recharge our unit so it would hold us over the weekend. True to their word, she received the replacement unit on Monday and installed it on Tues AM. They asked her to return it immediately for inspection.
Any manufacturing company will have problems...what they do about it is the measure of the company and we were really impressed. They will get my business going forward.
Regards,
Randy Pickelmann

Randy mentioned Katie at Drum Point Marine. It is a hidden gem. Katie is a very good mechanic and tiny enough to fit in tight spaces. I have been very happy with them. Nothing fancy but real good honest work. Next to Holiday Inn in Solomons Island, Md. They also do mobile service. No connect other than as a customer.

I have to agree.
