Tomorrow, October 17th, should be the last day of the tree maintenance and road closure. We will provide an update here if the schedule changes. If you plan to visit us, please park at the museum, walk along the bike path, and take the second left on the Cherry Island trail. This trail will lead you around to the count site. It is comprised of pavement, boardwalk, and gravel and is about a 0.75-mile walk. Weather: Slightly warmer today, compared to earlier this week. Clear skies all day. Temperatures rose from 6C to 12C. Winds were generally from NNW, between 9 and 22 kph. The Barometer remained steady around 30.30 inHg. Raptor Observations: 4,705 Turkey Vulture today, a good number but fewer than earlier this week. 50 Red-shouldered and 55 Red-tailed Hawks came in mixed kettles with the TUVU. 70 Sharpies zoomed past, mostly as singles. Several Bald Eagle, Harrier, Coop, Kestrel, and 1 Golden Eagle were also seen. Non-raptor Observations: A few Blue Jay and Crow were seen throughout the day. Large flocks of Cormorant bobbed in the water and periodically took to the sky. Predictions: Mainly clear sunny skies tomorrow. Temperatures rise from 5C to 14C. Winds WSW at 10-15kph. The barometer ranges from 30.39 to 30.33.
