If we have someone on the list that can translate from the Danish, it
would be interesting to learn what led to this grounding and how badly
the craft was damaged.

Thank you

I don't speak the language but I would guess this qualifies as an "Urban

Legend".  Unless ofcourse the >rock is about 8 feet taller then can be seen
in the picture and extends through the hull to a point way >above the
center of gravity.    BTW:  "oprindelig fik produceret til sig selv"  I
think may translate into >"April Fool" or "see what I can do with my new
photo program". ...jd

I recieved a number of Emails (off line) about the above note.  They all
tried to convince me that it was real.  Now after a few days of thinking
about it there seems to be a different opinion.  Maybe we should take a
vote. I will collect them and summarize,  but be aware that I will publish
your name along with your vote...jd

Sorry, didn't read following text. I know Vic Bell (live about 3 miles from
him) and he told us about this one a while ago.
It's definately a spoof.

Owen:

While it may be a spoof, it would appear to be a rather elaborate one.

^From Motor Boats Monthly - Oct 2001 - pg 8 . Waterfront News section :

" Guernsey cruiser left high and dry

Our sympathies are with occasional MBM contributor Alan Waller, unfortunate
shipper of the motor cruiser left highand dry off coast of Guernsey and
splashed across the national newspapers as a result .

"Power Game II , a Moonraker Super 36 once featured in Test of Time ( see
MBM Jul 98 p48) was left stranded off the Platte Fougere as her keel became
wedged on a rock , and the tide left her very publicly exposed.

" Amazingly , the boats hull remained virtually intact and leak - free,
sustaining only superficial damage to the gelcoat.

"  Alan and his crew were rescued by a nearby vessel , and Power Game II was
subsequently towed off the rock at high tide. Insurers Navigators & General
were footing the bill for repairs.

"  Many a seafarer has fallen foul of the rocks around Guernsey . In 1993
MBM reported how Internatioal Powerboat Race contender , CoGeMe, was left in
a similiar position ( picture of boat in similiar position is shown to the
right ) . She also managed to avoid serious damage "

** A later issue of MBM - which of course I cannot find at the

oment  - had a follow up article whch included an interview with the owner -
Alan Waller.  Should I come across it - will post it later ..

The photo in the mag is a much better reproduction than on the web page ...

All the Best
Ken
