. Today I changed the
Racor 900 filters on my main engines, and the new filters have the
same
indentation as the new 500 filters. Do the Racor 900's also need the
bushing to be
installed in the housing, are are they OK as is? (endsnip)
It is my understanding that the only model that needs the bushing is
the 500 series. You could probably check the Racor website, or just
call them, however it should be easy to check it out yourself. Pull
the top off the filter housing and note how high the old style filter
you've been using sits, then drop a new style in and see if it
changes. If not, you're good to go. I bet you'lll find your fine
without the bushing.
I talked to a Racor rep at the Workboat Show in New Orleans this
Spring and ask him about the bushing thing. The only filter he
mentioned in relation to the bushing thing was the 500. Now, I didn't
specifically ask about the other series filters, but he didn't
include them either.
