I am just now trying to use Admiral Max Pro version 10.0 having upgraded
from Admiral 9.2218.

  1. The scrolling is very slow on Max Pro vs. the 9.2 Admiral.
Specifically moving the black triangle to the left or right or up and down
does not move the chart fast.

  2. I can't find the Passport Chart Color Scheme tool on the Max Pro. And
therefore the depth numbers are grey and not distinct.

Has anyone had similar problems?

Greetings Braun!

I recently installed Max Pro, and for my usage, I think it is going to be a
big step forward. The charts seem to be MUCH better than what I had with VNS
9 (at least along the west coast of Central and North America).

One cool thing to try: They allow you to run the software on multiple
computers, without the dongle. The program works fine, but won't attach to a
GPS unless you have a dongle. Thus, your laptop can be the backup for the
ship's computer. I find it extremely handy having Nobleltec on my laptop and
use it often, both on the boat and off.

As to your specific questions:

My guess is that your issue with scroll-speed is performance related. I have
a fast computer, and the scrolling with the triangle is fast. Experiment
with turning off different display features. If you have everything turned
off (land features, relief, roads, cities, etc) and it is still scrolling
slow... then a faster computer may be the only fix.

As to tweaking the colors on the charts: I looked in the book, and looked
through all the menus. My guess is that it isn't possible. That said, you
could try calling Nobletec's tech support group. I called them once and
perhaps I got lucky, but I quickly was routed to one of their techs, who got
me going in minutes (I couldn't find how to run without a dongle).

Ken,
How do you run the program, MAX PRO without the dongle? All I get is put in
dongle. The program will not load.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob:

It's in a strange place...

Install Nobletec, then run the Chart Manager (the program that manages
charts). There is a button that says "Utilities" -- click it, and then run
"Create / Remove Virtual Key". It will ask for your dongle. This activates
your computer to run without the dongle, and then you can remove the dongle,
and you'll see that you run fine.
