Hello
I am Harjot Kaur, a IT B.Tech student from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering
College Ludhiana. I want to participate in GSOC 2015 and has chosen OpenScad
as my community. I have good amount of knowledge and experience in C++. I
have worked on DXF file format and Parser using Flex and Bison tools. I am
interested in Improve DXF import and export project [1] given in GSOC Ideas
list. I have also started looking at dxflib library by ribbonsoft [2]. What
else should I be aware of ? Any Ideas, tips or guidance on moving ahead ?

Hi, I'd suggest to have a look at the OpenSCAD source code, clone the git
repository and get it compiled. That's a good start for joining the project
and would be needed later anyway.
Also it would be nice if you can introduce yourself on our IRC channel
to chat about the project.
Some useful references are:
The student guide giving an overview about GSoC in general
http://en.flossmanuals.net/GSoCStudentGuide/
The GSoC 2015 page in the BRL-CAD wiki
http://brlcad.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/Project_Ideas
This has some important links on procedure, communication channels
and documents and also a checklist of things to do specific to the
BRL-CAD/OpenSCAD participation
ciao,
Torsten.

I have imported a dxf in openSCAD. Now, I am working on a bug i.e. DXF
export button: https://github.com/openscad/openscad/issues/1269
