Listees,

I went the route of Golf Cart batteries for the "house" and separate
starting battery (all flooded).  I replaced two gel batteries after they
died after one summers usage (don't really know why). Two sets of six
volt batteries are connected in series to obtain the two 12 volt battery
bank.  Elsea, runt of the litter 30 Willard,  does not have a lot of
extra space in the holey place.  The golf cart batteries are shorter
than most "normal" batteries but a little taller.  This size fit to the
space available.  The Golf cart size and weight is something I could
lift and push and pull into the space.  8D's in any form are too heavy
and would never fit.  Four Die Hards would not fit.

When connect 2 6V batteries in series you double the capacity as

compared

to one 12V of the same size, but of course you have twice the weight

and

needed space.

Al

You can connect them up any

way you like:  12 or 24 VDC systems.

Paul and Al,

Aren't golf cart batteries generally 6-volt, and does that make a
difference as long as you have at least two?
