Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end  time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
Big thanks to Noel for helping out observing all day. It was good to see
Jim and Len today together with about 50 visitors to the Tower, many who
showed an interest in the Hawk Watch and the comings and goings on the
Marsh. The local Ospreys did a good job demonstrating their fishing skills!

Weather:
Another glorious day, with great visibility,  but the temperature steadily
rose to over 30c by the end of the watch. The wind unfortunately remained
from the south west and cloud cover increased throughout the day.

Raptor Observations:
With the wind from the south, no Broad-winged Hawks were seen today.
American Kestrels lead the pack with 5 closely followed by 4 Sharp-shinned
Hawks. 2 Merlins shot by and the remainder; Turkey Vulture, Bald Eagle and
Red-tailed Hawk were singles.

Non-raptor Observations:
A very similar list as yesterday with a Black-crowned Night Heron as a
welcome addition. Warblers continue to disappoint with only an American
Redstart seen today. Cedar Waxwings (186) continue in good numbers. It was
good to see a flock of 15 Blue-winged Teal land in the Marsh. Mallards and
Wood duck continue as the main duck species. The list can be seen at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S148808673

Predictions:
With the wind remaining from the south we don't expect a big increase in
numbers. Hopefully we may see more American Kestrels and Sharp-shinned
Hawks.
