Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who has helped us (both on and off the list) over the last few months as we looked for a trawler. The advice we received was invaluable, and certainly saved us from making some wrong decisions, and helping to make a few right ones. Our search is now over. As of today, we are the proud owners of a 49' Defever Pilothouse. She is located just south of Houston, but we will be bringing her home to the New Orleans area in the next couple of weeks. We will be changing her name to Microship, a play on words reflecting our business...a computer service company. Again, thanks to all for your help. The end result was that I was allowed to make a new offer, without voiding the existing purchase agreement. After speaking with two other brokers, one in Florida and one in Texas, as well as my attorney, I was assured that negotiating the price based on deficiencies found during the survey was not negate the original agreement. Once I told the seller's broker that I had faxed a copy of the purchase agreement to my attorney, he backpedaled and referred me to the brokerage owner, who did the same thing. So, all is well that ends well!
