She can comfortably express herself with Kanji characters using brushes and ink. Her thoughts and emotions are delivered from brush to paper, and she focuses on every stroke: calligraphy is all about brush strokes. Her goal is to make connections with people from all over the world through art. Most people cannot read Kanji, however, some people feel some connections through the brush strokes and colors she uses. Chiyo originally is from Hiroshima, Japan and began training in Japanese calligraphy at age seven. She earned her degree in Japanese calligraphy from Hiroshima Bunkyo Women’s University.
