Note: The Fork-tailed Flycatcher continued today in Lyme. Again, I am
just going to try to summarize. Thanks to all who reported!
From many birders:
12/02/13 - Lyme, Hadlyme Ferry Landing, (EAST side of the river!), by
Gillette Castle -- 7:30ish AM to 4:30 PM; Fork-tailed FLycatcher.
"I was there at 7am and the bird finally made an appearance at 7:30ish
with some decent views before flying up to Gillette Castle where it
hung out for around an hour."
"7:40: Teed up in tree by sign."
"7:45am; 1 FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER."
"Once it came back around 9:30 it provided excellent point blank views
seemingly unconcerned with the dozen plus folks taking pictures and
looking at it."
"10:00am - 11:00am - FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER well seen and photographed
in thicket near rock ledge and around parking area."
"FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER showing well at 11:50."
"12:53 -1:02pm. FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER showing well at a distance up &
far left of hill. Hoping for a close look. Now we wait."
"3:16pm FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER showing well close and distance
surrounding the park, stump, trees and hillside. Great looks via
binos, scope + photos. Beautiful light has been a plus."
"4:30pm; 1 FORK-TAILED FLYCATCHER being seen close to the parking lot.
I had to wait 10 minutes for it to appear. 6 other birders with one
from RI."
From Jamie Meyers:
12/02/13 - East Granby, in corn field on the south side of Seymour
Road -- BARNACLE GOOSE with several thousand Canadas. This location
is basically at the Windsor/East Granby town line very near a
roundabout in the road. At the town line Seymour Road becomes Rainbow
Road. There is a massive corn field on the south side of the road
extending for a good half mile or so. The geese were everywhere, but
the Barnacle was with a group that could be seen directly south of a
dirt road that is being used as access for logging trucks. As the
goose flies this place is probably no more than 3 or 4 miles from the
Day Hill Road area in Windsor, where I believe a Barnacle was recently
seen.
From Sam Sauleys and the Raffords via Lemmon:

Faulkners and Goose Rocks perched high on the largest boulder.

Closing Note: On CTBirds there was discussion of a possible Nelson's
GUll. Which is a name given to a hybrid gull, not a species.
Probably. I think it may depend on who you talk to. Gulls can be
like that. If you want to know about those reports you will need to
read the messages on CTBirds. I'm not going to even pretend to make
anything of that.
