Credit Card Receipts

Complain to the merchant and call your CC issuer about the merchant.  The merchant is too lazy to get the software updated in their machine. For my CC machine it was a simple download.

I sometimes get receipts from using my debit card (admittedly not my credit card but still kinda sorta the same thing ?) that contain the entire number.

sometimes... but  some slightly older machines that can not obfuscate the
nr. and must be replaced.  I had the problem with such a terminal 2 or 3
years ago when the rules came in effect and these glorified modems are
ridiculously expensive considering what they are.

and while a card nr is useless without expiration date, the expiration dates
are usually printed on the  receipts...

Here's a different spin.

It almost sounds to me like employee theft.  Consider this - fuel dock
attendant processes your card and makes notes about you and your boat etc...
later (days, weeks, months or years) he pockets a cash sale and then
processes the phony charge on your card so the till balances.  Swears you
were there knows your boat name etc...

Once upon a time I was a partner in a limo company and we had an employee do
something similar - twist was that he tried to put it through on my credit
card.  He lost his job (perhaps he is pumping fuel in NC).

I am thinking of getting one of these USB TV adapters such as the Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro USB. I can plug this into the USB port on my notebook and watch the local stations I hope. You can also plug a cable into it for cable TV. Does anyone have any experience with one of these devices and will it do what I want?
Thanks

If someone is manually imprinting your card, make SURE that they don't do it
twice. I had someone do this to me in a restaurant a long time ago. Actually
imprinted the card three times on three different receipts, then forged my
signature on two of them. I assume he then traded them for cash in the till.
AMEX credited me back immediately for the two fakes.

Another scam... you can buy a card reader that plugs into your computer
pretty cheap. Some thieves are working in retail establishments, and keep
their laptop and the duplicate scanner right next to or under the register.
They swipe your card at the legitimate terminal, then quickly on their own,
gaining access to ALL your card information. No big deal to write down the
security code as well at the same time. Best advice is to WATCH your card at
all times it's not in your pocket.

The smoothness of your docking varies inversely with the number of people
