Hey everyone!
Hope you're all doing well 🙂 We recently finished our Summer Reading Program and are (almost!) to the end of all the reports around it.
We did something a little new for our library this year by holding a kick-off event at the beginning of the summer. We invited a lot of different community organizations to table and had different performances happening throughout. We tried to emphasize things that weren't just geared towards families/children, and I think this really bumped up our adult participation! Our FOL was also very generous in sponsoring gift cards to be raffled off for participants, and the adult winners seemed very pleased with the choices available to them (some local bookstores and museum-type things).
I think we'll probably do it again next year, but I'm hoping we'll be able to move it indoors. We've tried big events like this both outside and inside now, and even though it can be a little disruptive to hold it indoors, I think it does make it a lot easier to organically pique people's interest if they see other people having fun close by. Also, air conditioning.
How did everything go for you all? I hope you're having a chance to catch a breath and maybe squeeze in a vacation somewhere!
Cheers,
Tricia
