A few comments about this Wednesday Night Pursuit Race, and a series standings update incorporating results from the Hudson Cove Merberg Regatta this weekend.

Wednesday Pursuit Race

Howie Rinehart and Bob Shoemaker have been hard at work preparing for the Pursuit Race this Wednesday (Howie will be away, Bob will run the races). Thanks to both of them for the large amount of effort that goes into preparing for this event. The Pursuit Race is a "just for fun" race and the results are not included for scoring the series championship -- we hope a few skippers who haven't been seen much on the race course this season will come out to race this Wednesday and add to the post-race festivities on the patio.

A few reminders:

• June 26 is the first of two Pursuit Races on the schedule for Wednesday Night Racing. The second Pursuit Race is scheduled for September 4.
• PHRF fleet boats on the Nyack Wednesday Night racing roster which have a sail number will receive a start time for Wednesday based on the course selected by the RC and the boat's PHRF. High PHRF boats will start earlier than low PHRF boats, the earliest start will be 6:30 p.m. The RC will provide the list of starting times for each boat.
• The Pursuit Races will NOT count for any of our three announced Cruising Fleet Series (Wednesday, Sunday/Regatta, Fleet Champ) -- neither for points nor as qualifying races. The Cruising Fleet hopes to make awards to participants in the "Just for FUN Pursuit Pair" -- details to be announced. As usual -- "you have to in it to win it!"

Hudson Cove Regatta -- Haverstraw

A total of 14 boats raced Haverstraw's Hudson Cove Merberg Regatta over the weekend, with a very brisk breeze for two race Saturday, and wildly varied conditions for a single race on Sunday. Among the 14 were Cruising Fleet members Hee Soo in Spinnaker Division 1 and Pentimento, Sheba, and Zoom in Non-Spinnaker Division 3. Give Bob Milstein of Pentimento a round of applause for three bullets!

With those results in, here are the current leaders in Cruising Fleet Series -- 1) Fleet Champ, 2) Sunday/Regatta (Spin & Non-Spin), and 3) Wednesday Night (Spin & Non-Spin),

*Only Cruising Fleet members who are also active members of the Nyack Boat Club are eligible for the Fleet Champ Series.

The Sunday/Regatta Series requires a boat to score in a minimum of 10 qualifying races, and the Fleet Champ a minimum of 20 qualifying races. No competitors have crossed either threshold, but it appears several will do so in July. The boats with the largest number of qualifying races in each series:
