This webinar will offer an exploration into the world of public art collections management with Emily Wilkinson, the Director for Public Art at Texas Tech University (TTU), and Lori Goldstein, the Manager of WESTAF's Public Art Archive (PAA). Since the program's inception in 1998, TTU has installed over one hundred works of art across campuses throughout Texas. Wilkinson will discuss how her PAA Collections Management System, built specifically for the public art field through a partnership between CollectionSpace and the Public Art Archive, has helped to guide her daily and long term workflows and support the dynamic processes that encompass the practice of public art.

Data migrations can be intimidating for everyone, but there are ways to think about and organize them that can make them more likely to succeed. This discussion session will feature two panelists: Jeremy Katz from the Breman Museum, who recently completed a collections management system migration, and Kristina Spurgin, data migration specialist at LYRASIS. Jeremy will speak about the process from the perspective of a museum professional, including highlighting the methods and practices that worked best during the Breman's migration. Kristina has worked with a wide variety of data and systems during her career and will speak more broadly about some of the challenges and potential pitfalls of data migrations, as well as strategies she has employed to make the process more transparent, auditable, and safe.
