Dear Ontario Birders,

Last night the Long Point Bird Observatory Tip Research Station banded a
Boreal Owl along with 5 Long-eared, and 80 Northern Saw-whet Owls. The
Boreal Owl is Long Point's second record with the first being November 1,
2008.

There has been a very strong migration of Northern Saw-whet Owls through
Ontario this fall and a fair number of Boreal's monitored through
Hilliardton Marsh Bird & Wetland Research & Education Centre in Temiskaming
and Tadoussac Bird Observatory in Quebec. It is very likely that there are
others lurking in southern Ontario.

The Old Cut Research Station is open to the public every day until November
15. Northern Saw-whet Owl monitoring will occur on fair weather nights
throughout November usually running by one hour after sunset. For more
information on the research, education, and training programs of LPBO visit
