I have less chipmunks, Daddy Long Legs, Kitchen Ants, Carpenter Ants.  Less 600,000 people.  The Sixth Extinction is upon us.

I took a walk at Mixville Park in Cheshire a couple days ago.
Mulberry trees loaded with fruit and also loaded with birds. There's just
no way to draw broad  conclusions from local situations.

Where are all of the tent caterpillars this year.
Maybe that’s why cuckoos are so scarce?

Agreed Patricia.  Ask our 'old timers' what abundance used to look
like...then ask them what their grandparents saw as abundance vis a vis
birds, fish, turtles, etc.

Can't  be certain about what the future holds but right now I make noise
with local, state and federal govt, enrich my personal property for
wildlife food and breeding habit, and support global, hemispheric and local
conservation work.

For me wildlife and environment must be priority one when competing
interests intersect.  All life on this planet is beautiful, magical,
glorious and worthy of our utmost defense right to the bitter end.
