Here at Lone Star College-CyFair in Cypress, TX (just outside of Houston), we also have Virtuoso/Soloist, and our faculty members use the labs extensively. We also have SANSSpace, the same company's virtual (completely online) language lab system, which is also nice. There are regular, free webinars on using Virtuoso/Soloist, as well as a wealth of training and reference materials that come with purchase. If you're ever in these parts and want a demo/visit, feel free to reach out.

We use Stevens as well, and the president checks on us regularly. They are very nice, easy to work with, and very affordable. We are a small 3A school with three language labs. We have had very few problems, but any that we have had have been addressed immediately. I wouldn't trade for the world. Before choosing, we visited other schools to actually see the labs and to see how they worked. This was by far the best with the best recommendations. Hope this information helps.

Laura-Jane Barber and I teach together and I cannot say enough good things about the Stevens Learning Systems lab. It has really helped my students with their language proficiency. About 33% of my French 2 students placed in the top 10% of the nation last year on the National French Exam.

One fantastic feature is that the headsets are stored in baskets that drop down electronically from the ceiling so in a matter of seconds, I can group my students together electronically however I choose - groups of 2,3,5,8 . My colleague, Greg Shields, AP Spanish teacher extraordinaire, and I are doing a 3 hour workshop at TFLA on Friday AM, November 8th (shameless plug!). Workshop participants are going to be bussed to a school with a Stevens lab and we are going to demo great ways to use the labs with the workshop attendees actually participating in the various lab experiences aimed at growing student proficiency.

We use Sony Soloist/Virtuoso here and we are very happy with software and the service. We have had a designated server built in for our lab from the beginning so we have not had any of the problems spoken of earlier. We have had our lab for about 10 years and just updated our computers and our software and went back with Sony.

We have been using the Sony Soloist software since 1990. Last year, we upgraded our lab and after researching and having presentations from different companies, we decided to keep Sony Soloist and we had our lab upgraded to Sony Virtuoso Minor. We work with a company called Teaching Systems, they are great.
