IN THE HOT SHOP Visiting Artist Demonstrates Glass Engraving Techniques Through Sunday, March 20, 2011 <http://i7.createsend4.com/ei/y/79/F27/572/104742/images/april.jpg> MOG is pleased to welcome Seattle artist April Surgent <http://museumofglass.createsend4.com/t/y/i/fuhwl/l/u/> to the Hot Shop this week. April employs cameo engraving techniques to create cityscapes, landscapes and scenes from everyday life on fused glass. During this residency, she is working with the Hot Shop Team <http://museumofglass.createsend4.com/t/y/i/fuhwl/l/o/> making an assortment of froms-from replicas of traditional Bohemian drinking glasses, decanters and bottle shapes, to glass shades for oil lamps and globes-with multiple layers of color. She also has her engraving wheel on the floor, <http://i8.createsend4.com/ei/y/79/F27/572/104742/images/april-work.jpg> so as the Team is making the "blanks" April is demonstrating the engraving process and how it reveals the colors beneath the surface.
