See the following press release about the reaffirmation of Miles College's accreditation by SACSOC:
Miles College is proud to announce the reaffirmation of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The College achieved a ten-year reaffirmation of its accreditation with no recommendations for improvement by SACSCOC. This is historic! This stellar achievement demonstrates the exceptional quality and value of a Miles College education. President Bobbie Knight received the message by a phone call from SACSCOC on Thursday, June 15, after the accrediting body's board of trustees meeting. The official announcement will be made in December of this year during the SACSCOC annual meeting.
As part of the reaffirmation process, visiting teams composed of administrators and faculty members from peer institutions evaluated Miles College. The reaffirmation process included a Compliance Certification Report, a
Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Off-Site and On-Site Reaffirmation Reviews, and finally, a Review by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. The process assesses all aspects of the College, including academic programs, student services, and finances.
"We are delighted to announce that our esteemed College has been granted SACSCOC accreditation for the next decade without any findings or recommendations. Stepping into the position of President, I knew that the accreditation process was one of the most critical tasks on the list of goals to accomplish during my tenure. This was my first SACSCOC accreditation experience, and receiving this unmarked report speaks highly of our institution,
Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and alums. This remarkable achievement is witness to our unwavering commitment to academic excellence, faculty expertise, and student success. It's an honor and privilege to serve with such a
dynamic team. Together we continue to shape an environment that fosters innovation, learning, and limitless possibilities for our students here at the Home of Southern Beauty," said President Bobbie Knight, J.D.
"As Chairman of the Board, this news has brought continued pride and admiration for the exceptional efforts displayed by our first female President, Bobbie Knight, dedicated faculty, hardworking staff, talented students, and
accomplished alumni throughout the SACSCOC affirmation process. This momentous achievement is truly remarkable as we celebrate Miles College's 125th anniversary, and it serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment and extraordinary leadership.
To our incredible students, you are the heart and soul of Miles College. Your drive, resilience, and thirst for knowledge during a worldwide pandemic inspired us all. This affirmation is a testament to your hard work, determination, and pursuit of excellence. Embrace this milestone, knowing that you are part of a legacy that will continue to shape the world for generations. The reaffirmation of our accreditation by SACSCOC is a significant milestone in the journey of Miles College. This rigorous process demands the highest standards of excellence in education, institutional effectiveness, and student achievement. It is a testament to the collective efforts of every member of our college community, who have worked tirelessly to meet and exceed these standards," said Miles College Board Chair Bishop C. K. Heath.
"Miles College extends its deepest gratitude to our students, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, and alumni community. We thank our students for remaining steadfast in their studies throughout the pandemic. We thank our faculty for maintaining the academic rigor to ensure our students were academically successful and ready to undertake graduate school and careers. We thank our staff for supporting the mission of Miles College, and our alumni and stakeholders for providing their time, talents, and treasures so that we had the resources to expand and enhance our programs and students' experience," said President Bobbie Knight, J.D..
