BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT... ... to all Gators crossing the starting and finishing lines this crabby weekend as we wrap up IRON Gators week 2021! Last week we had 16 athletes Gator Done including a dozen at IRONMAN Atlantic City 70.3! This week we bring IRON Gators Week to a thunderous close (hopefully under sunny skies) with 20 Gators participating in 9 events across 5 states including 8 that will be taking on an IRON challenge and another 6 participating in sponsor events from French Creek Racing and Steelman Racing! Also, in case you are not racing, a workout reminder... We are offering our usual Sunday 11:15am-12:15pm indoor swim slot at the Spring Valley Y's indoor lap pool; this is an uncoached group swim. And here's what is on tap for our weekend events!... Saturday, September 18: • SIGNATURE CLUB EVENT... IRONMAN Maryland (Cambridge, MD): We have 6 Gators taking on the ultimate challenge including Ginny Angus (multi-time IRONMAN finisher competing in her first as a Gator), Jason Brannen (a multi-time IM MD finisher), Jon Crosby (competes in his 2nd full IM event), Scott Fridy (his first of THREE! full IMs on the 2021 calendar)... and two FIRST TIME IRONMAN ATHLETES... Jill Basile and Logan Washburn! There will also be Gators there in support and/or volunteering including Dre Barber, Kerri Brannen, Sheri Kuss, David Stone (wetsuit peeler and finish line catchers), Don Mack (same as David), plus family and friends! Get your IM trackers ready! • CLUB EVENT... French Creek Triathlon Festival (Elverson, PA): The Gators that will be joining John Kenny for his event include Chris Acosta competing in the Olympic triathlon and Keith Ho, Carla Setzler, and Randell Torres who are competing in the sprint triathlon! • IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships (St. George, UT): It's not every year that we have Gators qualified for and competing in an IRONMAN World Championship event, so this is a big deal and our IM tracker apps will be doing double duty! Our two athletes competing include Shawn O'Malley and Doug Raab! • Got the Nerve? Triathlon (Lewisberry, PA): At least one Gator does have the nerve as Vicki Kolsevich competes in her first event as a Gator in this sprint triathlon! • Beach to Brewery 10K (Cape May, NJ): Beth Kramer makes this a family event as all four Kramers, including Allen, Allison, and Jess, will be racing together for the first time! • Amish Country Bike Tour (Dover, DE): Can you guess who is doing another epic bike adventure? Susan Flavin and Joe DeNicola celebrate Susan's birthday weekend with a 100km / 62 mile ride through Delaware! Sunday, September 19: • SPONSOR EVENT... Steelman Endless Summer Swim (Downingtown, PA): In the 3rd and final event of the Steelman 2021 OWS race series, Cindy Kelecic will be channeling past Gator marathon swimmer Nabile Radouane as she completes the 3 mile swim and Sheri Kuss, who should get at least a couple of hours of sleep between IM MD and this event, will complete the 1 mile swim! • Philadelphia Distance Run (Philadelphia): In a unique approach to recovery, this week Holly Beauchamp, fresh off of IRONMAN Atlantic City 70.3, "only" runs a half marathon through the streets of Philadelphia! • USATF Masters 12K Championships (Highlands, NJ): Club running coach, Karen Dunn, and club sponsor, Don Morrison, will both be running in this event taking place at Sandy Hook National Gateway Recreation Park!
