Regarding Crab Pots
All we can say about Crab Pots is that they are a salt water phenomem.  Once
you get to New York harbor and start venturing north, one encounters NO MORE
POTS.  On the Hudson River, the crab pots are replaced by  floating debris
of the wooden variety..sticks, small logs, big logs, branches, etc.  They
are not that troublesome though.  Off the Hudson, we had far fewer
encounters with even the wood debris.
One will not get crab pots again until Mobile Bay.  As we said, its a salt
water thing.

You know, if people quit eating those critters, there would be far far fewer
pots.
