I've been mulling over the condition of most of our dock lines which
have become worn to the point of needing replacement. We do have a set
of black double braid travel dock lines which we use occasionally, but
we really avoid them, they're stiff and no amount of futzing with them
seems to help. I'm considering ordering 200 ft. of 3/4"double braid to
make up a new set. I'm not keen on purchasing made up lines since I'm
perfectly capable of splicing eyes and whipping double braid.
I've been doing some research, and found that Miami Cordage has 3/4
double braid in a variety of colors, even custom colors and patterns,
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with their product. They also
sell on Amazon, cost for colored 3/4" there is $1.74/ft. Not cheap, but
not horribly expensive.
I considered 8 plait or 12 plait, but I am concerned that because of the
loose lay of the line it will have a tendency to snag easily. I really
believe double braid nylon will be my best option.
Thoughts from the list?

Steve,
I moved from double braid to 12 plait two years ago and have never
looked back. I bought black 100 meters of 18mm good quality line (~
$450) and cut them into 4 25 meter mooring lines. I always run them
thru the the bollard on the dock/shore and then back to Leeze.
Unless the stay is short, I install 1" pieces of hose at the dock for
chafe protections.
Never had a snag. Easy for the admiral to handle. still look good, In
some cases, where I always need chafe protection at a particular
spot., used shrink wrap in lieu of hose.
