Dear Tacoma Art Community, Energize Tacoma <https://www.energizetacoma.org/> is excited to announce the opening of phase 2 of the Black Contemporaries project, inviting artists to submit their innovative and impactful artwork for display at the Tacoma Urban League. As we move forward, we aim to create a vibrant showcase that celebrates Black artistry and culture. *Current Status:* Phase 1 is currently being installed at the Tacoma Urban League, and we are thrilled to see our vision come to life. This initial phase has set the stage for a dynamic dialogue around Black identity, creativity, and community. *Future Vision:* Our vision for 2025 includes expanding our offerings to incorporate more physical programs and workshops. We believe that in-person interactions foster deeper connections and understanding, and your artistic contributions will play a pivotal role in shaping these experiences. We aim to create a platform where artists can engage with the community, share their stories, and collaborate on new ideas. *Project Framework:* The Black Contemporaries project is an integral part of the larger Sankofa Project with Energize Tacoma. Our commitment to fostering Black culture and representation is unwavering. We have established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tacoma Urban League, which facilitates ongoing collaborations with them and other community stakeholders. Together, we aspire to create spaces that celebrate and elevate Black voices and experiences. *Application Process:* We invite all interested artists to apply for this opportunity. Submissions should reflect the themes of identity, community, and cultural heritage. Whether through visual art, multimedia, or performance, we encourage you to share your unique perspective.
