Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsDon't know if this has been mentioned in response to the question concerning
marinas and places to stay on the rivers, but Big E Marina on the Ohio River
at Paducah, KY, is no more. The barge is gone and there are no plans to replace
it or to put in a real marina. As a result the only fuel stop between Hoppies
on the Mississippi River and Kentucky Lock Marina is Kidd's at Cape Girardeau
and you cannot stay overnight there. They need 24 hours notice to have fuel
and there is a minimum purchase requirement. Still the longest stretch between
available fuel on the Great Loop is on the southern stretch of the Tenn-Tom
between Bobby's Fish Camp and Dog River Marina off Mobile Bay.

Another possibility is to go up Bayou Sara at MM 5 or 6 (about 4-5 miles up the
creek) to Winter's Marina. They have, gas (not sure about diesel ???), 30 amp
electric and dockside water. Also have a courtesy pick up truck.
