Drum roll!

Here are the results of your votes for TWList's Top 10 Trawlers of All
Time, based on posts to the List and email in my mailbox:

#1) Willard--the 30, 36 Vega and 40--has received the most mentions.

#2) Kadey-Krogen--especially the 48 series--also received many mentions.

#3) These two makes are quite a distance ahead of Grand Banks, with the 42
Classic garnering the most votes.

#4) Zopilote and especially Spirit of Zopilote are next, a tribute to the
Bruce Kessler-Steve Seaton collaboration.

#5) Arthur DeFever's designs, Alaskan 48 and DeFever 49, received the next
cluster of votes.

#6 through #8 equal votes) In alphabetical order:

--Marine Trader
--Nordhavn 46, with a special nod to Jim and Susy Sink of Salvation II
--Romsdal

#9 and 11 tied also) In alphabetical order:

--Nordic Tugs
--Passagemaker by Robert Beebe
--Rueben Trane and the Florida Bay Coasters designed by Jay Benford and
Great Harbour 37 designed by Louis Codega.

What an interesting selection! Wouldn't you love to have one of each at
your dock?

Of the above boats, if you could only have a single one, and price were not
a consideration, which one would you chose? Please cast your ballot for
only one boat by emailing me at mailto:news@trawlerworld.com. If you
mention more than one boat, you vote will not be counted.

Honorable mentions in the three weeks of polling were, in alphabetical
order, as follows:

--Albin
--Allweather 26
--Busted Flush
--Bylgia II, a 40-foot Dutch custom circumnavigator
--Californian 35 and 42
--CHB
--Columbia, ex Where Too, custom 60 by Bill Brees
--Dory 50
--Fales 32 Seeker
--Fleming 55
--Gulfstar 43 and 44
--Hatteras 48 LRC
--Hershine
--Kanter 57
--Mainship 34 and 350
--Modus 1500 LRC
--Monk 36
--Odessa, custom 52 by Ben Ostlund.

After the voting for the single one top trawler of all time is done, I'll
assemble all of this, with pictures, at Trawler World Online. Perhaps with
a ballot form so the trawler world at large can also make its selection of
the top 10 trawler of all time known.

As far as the List goes, next December we'll pick the TWList's Trawler of
the Decade from among only the boats introduced during the 1990s. That will
be cool way to wrap up the century, n'est-ce pas?
