The other side of the coin is Elizabeth City, NC.  They celebrate their free
dock and even throw in a wine and cheese party at 5 PM.  Its good for the
hardware store, the resturants, the movie theater, the bakery, the grocery
store will pick you up in their van and drop you off...you get the picture.
Its nice to be appreciated!  'Liz City is a favorite stop of ours because of
their hospitality.  The free docks are good for us and good for them.

Don't neglect Edenton NC at the western end of the Albemarle Sound. Better
then Elz City. By far the nicest free dock we've ever been to.  The free
stay is limited (2 days) and a call in is advised to make sure a club isn't
having an event locking up all the slips.

There is electric available (fee), water free and nominal pump out charge
$5.00). Dock master will drive you to and from supermarkets, laundry etc.
The dock is in the very nice downtown area with restaurants and shops. Nice
protected docks behind a concrete breakwater.
