Al,
I would be interested in why you think so. What am I overlooking here?
Sounds like you have been down this road or a similar one.
With all the great feedback I got and input from the admiral (she has
adopted the honorific 'Anchor Wench') I have decided to go the inverter
route. For much less than the cost of a generater
---==========================
This will work great while cruising with a very large engine driven
alternator. You have no idea how long you will have to charge batteries
while at anchor after a day or so you will have to run your engine almost
all day. I have a 1500 watt inverter I use while cruising for Micro wave
coffee fridge etc. and for the fridge 2.2 amps 120V and other quick low
drain items.
while at anchor.
All appliance amperage draw has to be muliplied by 10 to get amperage
needed at 12V. How long do you think you can run a 10 amp AC unit or a 1100
watt stove burner or a micro that draws 10 to 15 amps.
You will be easy to find in the anchorage you'll be the one smoking. You
might be drawing 500 to a 1000 amps out of your batteries while cooking,
AC, and Micro. How long will they last???????
I guess we are going to find out "Wench"
I think you will find out after the cost of the inverter, super
alternator,Very large expensive batteries, fuel to drag around all the
extra weight, and enngine running time to recharge batteries you'll wish
you had a little generator.
